I'm guessing policy mostly, and control. You can't have your namespace
pointing to a box you don't have control over because when someone uses the
box for a malicious purpose it still comes back to your namespace, and so
there's public relations concerns as well. I mentioned security because
it's one of the biggest and kind of relates to the others. (IE the policy
might not exist if there wasn't a risk of the box being hacked outside of
your own firewall.....)
There are lots and lots of reasons, but it basically comes down to you never
want to put your (business) name on something you don't have control over.
