I read through the comments and found that dri is not needed. There are
other options to add to the device, and I think a few of the comments
mention them.

Oh, and while I was running Beryl, I was playing a movie, browsing the
web, and downloading a game. Then the only thing that would update on
the display was the mouse cursor. A moment later, it them gave me back
control, but maybe 30 minutes later it happened again, and I ended up
having to reboot. 

So yeah, I'm going to have to keep Beryl around just to show off, but
otherwise I'll spend my time with the stable window manager.
