This has been an ongoing topic for years. Literally. I've chalked it
up to a lost cause personally, but there have been some recent changes
to course online, maybe things have changed?

technologies. Historically the COL player and the recent changes to the CTI
web pages provide empirical evidence to demonstrate that.[1]
As an alternative, I strongly encourage you to plead with your instructors
to enable the podcast version of the lectures so you can at least download
an mp3. I always enable it, but unfortunately most instructors either
don't seem to bother or are unwilling to open them up to be freely shared.
