My name is Tom Levin and I am a technical recruiter with TEKsystems in
Downers Grove, IL.  I have the following 1-year contract opportunity
available and I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in this
role.  It is with a government client in the far western suburbs of

TEKsystems has a 1-year contract opportunity with a government based
client located in the far western suburbs of Chicago for a Jr Linux
Administrator (1 year exp) with a network monitoring background. This is
a first shift role Monday-Friday from 8:30 am-PM.

This role is for a Jr Systems Admin. The role can best be described as a
cross between a Linux Systems Admin and a Computer Systems Monitoring
person. This scope of this role is to monitor tape drives/libraries for
30 Linux servers in two different data centers and then troubleshoot
issues. Responsibilities will include:

Monitoring all storage systems
- ability to navigate Linux, where logs go, monitoring disc space
- performing daily checklists
- incident logging and handling
- responding to service requests, trouble tickets
- placing (24 x 7) service request to storage vendors
- providing and reviewing a report at the end of the week
- interacting with end-users to resolve their issues
Storage system monitoring
Storage System troubleshooting
Storage services Computer installations in Data Center Environment
Storage System Software installation, upgrades and provisioning

REQUIRED
1 year of experience in Linux Administration
Experience with the Linux basics-navigating the systems, patches, logs,
checking for running jobs, etc.
Troubleshooting Skills
Experience Monitoring Linux Operating Systems in a Data Center
Environment
Willingness to work in a 24 X 7 Weekly Pager Rotation
Experience with Network Monitoring Tools like Nagios or Ganglia
