The printer in the Student Union building of the Lincoln Park campus can be accessed using an IP address setup. To get the IP address, you need to print out a configuration page from the printer and use the IP address on the configuration page to setup and print from your laptop.
In the past (2005-2006), it was my experience that the department that provides access to printers allows linux printing in this fashion as long as the printed material is not more than 5 pages in any one hour AND if there is not a large amount of people using the printer. All the printers on DePaul's campuses can be configured to work with your laptop running linux in the manner described above. You may have to consult a manul for the type of printer which is available on the internet at the manufacturer's website.

Charles

Some of the printers are insecure and allow anyone to print to them
using smb/hp network printer drivers. However I think it's frowned
upon since it bypass the intelliprint system.
