On this Friday, November 9, 3:30-5:00 (pm), the History Club and Phi Alpha Theta will have its second AQ meeting (in Levan 203). Dr. Colleen Doody be presenting a lecture/discussion on the One Book, One Chicago text, The Crucible, to interested history students. The significance of the text is its timelessness and timeliness...while it dramatizes scenes from the period of the Salem Witch allegations, it also addresses themes such as the mixing of politics and religion, the tension between liberty and security, the vulnerability of weakness and the hypocrisy of power. These had relevance during the McCarthy era (when the play was written) and today.
