This is a chance to study in Bonn, Germany (the former capital of the former Federal Republic of Germany, aka West Germany), to study German history, and to study with our resident German historian, Dr. Woesthoff. <P><FONT size=2>I hope you all had a good summer! </FONT><BR><FONT size=2>I wanted to let you know about a unique Study Abroad opportunity for next year at Bonn University in Germany. As many of you know, my area of expertise is German History. Actually, Bonn University is my alma mater, and so I am very excited to let students know about this chance to get to know the country and the institution first hand:</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>PROGRAM OVERVIEW:</FONT> <BR><FONT size=2>DePaul University's specially designed two-quarter program lets students integrate German language skills and historical knowledge into an interactive, firsthand experience in one of Germany's most rapidly globalizing cities. Students begin the program at DePaul with a focus on learning about German history and society. Following coursework at home, students spend a week on a study tour in Berlin. Afterwards, students begin regular courses at the University of Bonn.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2>COURSES AND CREDITS:</FONT> <BR><FONT size=2>Students earn a total of 34-35 credits spanning 2 quarters and 6 months. During the Chicago portion, students enroll in a German language course and HST217/INT 340 taught by Dr. Julia Woesthoff. The course focuses on immigration and multiculturalism in postwar Germany and examines issues of religion, national identity, citizenship, and gender equality. Students also formulate a research project to be carried on through Spring Quarter.</FONT></P>
