<P class=MsoNormal>The Pritzker Military Library is now open at its new location at 104 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago. In addition to our gallery exhibits and collection of military history books available for browsing, we are starting a program called Saturday Film Series. We will be showing military-themed movies to the public in our lecture hall on Saturday afternoons at 1:00 p.m.<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>We are looking for people to provide historical context and background about each movie. This person would do a quick 10-minute (or so) lecture before each movie is shown. Our aim is for the audience to gain some knowledge about history while also being entertained. The successful candidate will have ample knowledge of U.S. history, specifically military history, and an interest in films from the 1940s to the present.<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>This is ideal for a graduate student, instructor, or undergrad with a very strong history background and aptitude for history. This is a volunteer position; lecturers will receive a copy of the movie they present.<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>There are 10 positions available.<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>The movies are shown at 1:00 on Saturday afternoons. The lecturer would need to be on-site at 12:30 p.m.<o:p></o:p></P>

<P class=MsoNormal>Our collection includes over 30,000 books, over 1,000 prints and posters, over 1,000 artifacts, over 6,000 photographs and glass negatives from the Civil War through the Vietnam War, personal papers of Citizen Soldiers, and a collection of DVDs, videos, and other media. <o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal>The Library offers public programs with major authors and historians, and interviews with Medal of Honor recipients in front of a live audience. Exhibits of military art, photographs, and antique posters from our collection are also held in our gallery. All programs in the Library’s lecture hall are presented in front of a live audience, broadcast live on the Internet, and recorded for broadcast on WYCC-TV/Channel 20, a PBS affiliate.
