summer 2010 field school in Italy, the San Gemini Preservation Studies Program,
now in its 11th year, which is dedicated to the preservation of cultural
heritage.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 10pt"><o:p> </o:p></SPAN></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">This year the program focuses on the
study of <B>architectural survey and restoration, elements of art restoration
and conservation of archaeological ceramics</B>. The field projects involve the
survey and restoration of medieval churches, archeological excavation in the
ancient Roman city of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">Carsulae</st1:place></st1:City>, and work on local archival
material.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 10pt"><o:p> </o:p></SPAN></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">The program is a collaboration
between scholars from various universities and local preservation groups,
fostering a multidisciplinary approach to historic preservation. It is now a
part of the International Institute for Restoration and Preservation Studies.
All academic activities are held in English.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
