Good afternoon student teaching partners,

I hope each of you is having a great summer and enjoying what's left of it! I wanted to send some updates in regards to items you've been waiting on from our district.

CPS Teacher Pathways Project - Student Teacher Survey
As I shared last spring, CPS will conduct a research project this school year in partnership with the University of Chicago’s Consortium on Chicago School Research (CCSR), who is working with colleagues from the University of Michigan, and Stanford University.
The Chicago Teacher Pathways Project was recently awarded funding by the Spencer Foundation. This project will help CPS better understand which features of student teaching—with a particular focus on mentor teachers and placement settings—are predictive of
employment, retention, and instructional preparedness. Please know this is not a study of individual programs. University student teachers as well as alternative certification candidates will be surveyed this school year. I have attached our initial PRE-student
teaching survey. It will be sent to our fall student teacher candidates tomorrow and shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to complete. Thank you for your patience as we worked with the research team and CPS leadership to finalize all survey instruments and
appropriate IRB/RRB support. We are thrilled about the Spencer Foundation award and look forward to learning more about our pipeline programs!

edTPA Video Consent Forms
Per your requests, we have updated our CPS Student Teacher Video Consent Form to include release of materials to Pearson. Attached you will find English and Spanish versions of our form. This must be used by any CPS Student Teacher that wishes to videotape
within our classrooms. The ISBE form and university forms are not valid for a CPS site placement.

Student Teacher Contracts
At this time, each partner program should have received a new student teacher agreement for review and signature. Our Law Department requested those be returned by Monday, August 25, 2014. I know that this is an impossible task for many of your campuses
as they must route through your legal teams and other offices. I encourage you to send any questions, concerns or feedback to our Law Department.

Thank you for your patience on all of these items. It's been a very busy summer at CPS!

Have a terrific weekend!
