JOB SUMMARY

Functional Overview:

The BI and Portal team is part of Forsythe Corporate IT. There are 2
groups within the team: Business Intelligence (BI) and Portal
Applications. The BI team addresses the information and analytic needs
of the organization. We do so by leveraging the transactional data
created by the application systems used by the organization and
supported by the Application Development team in IT. The Portal team
supports the knowledge management needs of the organization. This
includes our intranet (the FORT) and our extranet (www.forsythe.com
<http://www.forsythe.com/> ). Both groups have underlying fundamental
development philosophies to improve the overall technical capabilities
of Forsythe through:

*	The single version of the truth
*	Scalability
*	Reuse
*	Documentation
*	Communication

Project Description (Assignment Overview):

The BI and Portal intern will have the unique opportunity to work on
project(s) that leverage both parts of the team. The primary
assignments will include working on the following projects:

*         Collaboration Project:  Implementing collaboration
functionality within Forsythe

* Knowledge Repository Projects: Implementing searchable
repositories for Forsythe content

* Quarterly Releases: Implementing enhancements for our 3rd
quarter release.

The responsibilities of the BI and Portal intern will include
participating in the systems development life cycle (SDLC) for these
projects, testing of our systems, documentation and some technology
implementation responsibilities.

In addition, the BI and Portal Intern will be assisting in the QA
process for the Forsythe Impact project and miscellaneous FORT
improvement efforts.

Project Deliverables/Objectives

The Collaboration Project is currently delivering a roadmap that will
identify the implementation program for collaboration functionality
within Forsythe. By implementing collaboration capabilities, we expect
to improve the efficiency of our deliverable creation, new hire
on-boarding and overall knowledge sharing effectiveness. The following
are the high-level deliverables:

*         Collaboration technology suite

* SDLC documentation according to our Project Management
Methodology

* Processes, governance and roles and responsibilities to
support the new Collaboration technology suite and business objectives

The purpose of the Knowledge Repository Projects is to improve the
overall efficiency of knowledge search within Forsythe. There are
thousands of reusable documents that currently do not follow any
standards, are not monitored for currentness and are difficult to find.
Within the Knowledge Repository projects, we will inventory content by
business area, organize the content, implement standards and a
searchable taxonomy and web-based repository. The Knowledge
Repositories effectively impact Forsythe's bottom line by streamlining
our knowledge-based processes. The following are the high-level
deliverables:

*         Web-based searchable repository

*         Business Area content inventory

*         Defined taxonomy

*         Content standards

* SDLC documentation according to our Project Management
Methodology
