LeadAmerica is looking for responsible, high-energy, positive people
to
join our exceptional staff for the Congressional Student Leadership
Conference and the National Junior Leaders Conference. Through
hands-on simulations, briefings and discussions with national and world
leaders
and other experiential learning, these leadership conferences provide
outstanding high school and middle school students with the experience
of a lifetime! Conferences are held on college campuses around the
country throughout the Spring and Summer.
Conference Topics Include:
* The Congressional Forum
* Engineering, Science & Robotics
* Junior War College
* Global Business & Entrepreneurship
* Intelligence, Diplomacy & National Security
* Law & Trial Advocacy
* Medicine & Healthcare
* CSI - Crime Scene Investigation
* Leadership University
Team Leader positions available
Team Leaders are responsible for teaching and supervising groups of
14-18 students in small groups, on field trips, during meals and as
resident advisors at the conference centers. Although the hours are
long, the rewards are unbelievable! As role models, teachers,
supervisors, coaches, mentors and friends, candidates must posses the
Following:
* Responsibility and personal integrity
* Experience or knowledge in the subject matter
* Professionalism and passion
* Genuine interest in youth leadership and youth development
* Optimism, energy, and enthusiasm
* Public speaking skills and comfort in front of a small group of
students
* Evidence of personal success
* References for a background check
Earn a stipend and college credit
Team Leaders receive a stipend for the summer which equates to
approximately $500 for each 6-day conference and $700 for each 10-day
conference plus a bonus at the end of the summer (see our website for
conference details). Travel to and from the conference is included,
as
well as room and board and admission to all conference activities.
Team
Leaders typically work 3 or 4 conferences during the summer with a few
days break between each session. Team Leaders will attend a training
session in the Washington, D.C. area.
Team Leaders also have the opportunity to earn up to 3 undergraduate
or
graduate credits while staffing LeadAmerica conferences. The credits
are fully transferable from Loras College (www.loras.edu), a
four-year,
fully accredited, liberal arts college.
