Focus on Development in Iraq: Legal Education Reform & Human Rights Law

Join featured speakers Yaser Tabbara and Dr. Aminah McCloud, for a
discussion of Legal Education Reform in Iraq, a project currently being
conducted by the International Human Rights Law Institute of DePaul
University, which has a "western" perspective on ideas like rule of law
and human rights, yet is administered by Arabs and Arab-Americans who
are sensitive to the local culture's perspective on the same issues.

Yaser Tabbara is the project coordinator for DePaul University's
International Human Rights Law Institute's "Raising the Bar: Legal
Education Reform in Iraq" project. While working primarily in the
project's Chicago office, Mr. Tabbara has also traveled to Iraq and
other locations in the Arab world.

Dr. Aminah McCloud is a professor of Religious Studies and Director of
the new Islamic World Studies Program at DePaul University. Dr. McCloud
has actively sought to address topics related to Islam in the media from
the Chicago Tribune to the Los Angeles Times, sparring with television
talk hosts like Bill Maher and Bill O'Reilly. She was featured on a PBS
special on Islam in America.
