Appropriate Technology Forum: How To Develop Economically Viable,
Regionally Applicable and Sustainable Technology
When: Tuesday, September 14th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Join featured speakers Lee Ashcroft from Working Bikes Cooperative and
Asratie Teferra from Sun Ovens Ethiopia for a discussion on appropriate
technology products and programs. Learn more about what appropriate
technology means to these different organizations. Share your own ideas
and experiences.
Working Bikes Cooperative recovers, repairs and sells bicycles to
Chicagoans at a low cost in order to fund shipments of bicycles and bike
parts to developing countries. Currently they are collaborating with
groups in Nicaragua, Ghana and Sudan to provide inexpensive, appropriate
transportation to local groups in a micro-enterprise setting.
Sun Ovens Ethiopia, an independently owned part of Sun Ovens
International family, provides alternative cooking methods that do not
rely on fossil fuels. Sun Ovens Ethiopia is establishing an assembly
plant in Addis Ababa.
Admission: $5 for non-members, free for members - Refreshments
