The Presbyterian Homes of Evanston invites applications from area
history writers for its centennial history book project. The selected
writer will compose a research based book length social history of the
Presbyterian Homes that will be accessible to a broad community
audience. The work will draw from materials in the organization's
archives and community interviews to illustrate the progression of the
Presbyterian Homes over the past 100 years. Possible subjects of
interest within the work include the history of the institution's care
for the elderly, the relationship between the organization and the
Presbyterian Church, biographical sketches of notable figures, and the
diversification and expansion of the organization's mission and
population. The position will be funded with a generous stipend paid
incrementally by progress, and the organization anticipates a
publication date in 2006.
Interested writers should send a cover letter, along with a resume or
curriculum vitae and a writing sample, to the following address by March
30, 2005:
Joy Creamer
Office of the Board of Director
Presbyterian Homes
3200 Grant St.
