Subject: SUMMER TEACHING POSITIONS

Love books?

This summer, begin a new chapter. Teach Reading.

The Institute of Reading Development is now accepting applications for our full-time Summer 2006 teaching positions. We are a private school that teaches reading enrichment programs in partnership with the continuing education departments of more than 100 colleges and universities across the United States. We teach students of all ages to improve their reading skills, to enjoy books, and to experience absorption in literature. We’ve been teaching our programs since 1970, and we currently teach in every major metropolitan area in the United States.

Teaching for IRD is an opportunity to:

*Do meaningful work.

*Earn more than $6,500 this summer.

*Help others discover all that emerges from the regular practice of getting lost in books.

*Gain valuable and marketable teaching experience. We provide a paid, comprehensive teacher-training program to prepare you to teach students of all ages. You will gain hundreds of hours of teaching experience with a variety of age groups. You will recognize growth and development in your teaching skills. You will become a better discussion leader and lecturer. You will learn how to effectively manage and motivate your students.

*Contribute to the reading development of local communities and work with a variety of student populations.

*Work in a supportive and enthusiastic environment.

To teach for the Institute you must see reading as a primary formative experience in your life. You must project intellectual authority and warmth. You must believe in the capacity of your students to succeed.

You will need regular access to a car during the summer while you are teaching classes.

Graduate students and graduating seniors from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

For more information or to begin the application process, either:
1)call (888) 964-0092 to speak with a member of our teaching staff, or
2)email us at teacherhiring at readingprograms.org with a few dates and times (during business hours, Monday - Friday) when we could contact you. Please include your time zone and the phone number (including area code) where you would like to be reached. One of our teachers will reply and confirm a time to talk.

We appreciate your interest and look forward to answering any questions you may have.
