Dear Professor Schultz: 

We would like to introduce ourselves as the co-chairs of the 
12th Annual James A. Barnes Club Graduate Student Conference 
at Temple University.  Because we have great respect for the 
strong tradition of graduate study at your institution, we are 
sending you this notice. 

The Barnes Club Conference offers graduate students a unique 
opportunity to present papers based on original research to 
peers and faculty members representing colleges and 
universities from across the country. 

The 2006 Conference attracted a strong turnout of students and 
professors, as well as 65 presenters. Last year's presenters 
came from the following universities: Indiana 
University-Bloomington, Tulane University, St. Joseph's 
University, Miami University-Ohio, Lehigh University, Bowling 
Green State University, University of Miami, University of 
Pennsylvania, Baylor University, Ball State University, 
University of Michigan, SUNY-Binghamton, Rutgers University, 
University of Texas-Austin, Philadelphia University, Monmouth 
University, Claremont Graduate University, Wilfrid Laurier 
University (Canada), Syracuse University, Yale University, and 
Vanderbilt University. The conference also featured roundtable 
presentations from representatives of the following 
Philadelphia area organizations: Temple University Press, 
Temple University Libraries, Pennsylvania Historical Society, 
Philadelphia Urban Archives, American Philosophical Society, 
U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, Franklin Institute, 
Atwater Kent Museum, and the Pennsylvania Historical Museum 
Commission.  Based upon the growth of Temple's faculty and 
graduate student body in the past few years, as well as the 
increased popularity of the Conference, we expect an even 
higher turnout for the 2007 Conference.  

We have taken the liberty of attaching a copy of the 
Conference's call for papers and a flier that advertises the 
Conference.  The Conference has also been listed on H-Net.  

We would greatly appreciate it if you would post the flier in 
your department.  Also, if any of your graduate students would 
like to present or attend, please ask them to contact us at 
jabconf at temple.edu. 

The 2007 Barnes Club Conference will be held at Temple's 
Center City campus on Saturday, April 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 
5:00 p.m.
