Dear Intrepid Historians,

 

NEXT Friday, February 13th (Friday...the 13th!), marks a special History
Club event.  Now if you are worried that this doesn't include you, read
on!  History Club is open to all...history buffs, history students,
history teachers, historian wanna-bes, and historians....  Oh, and
friends of the above....  So please come and bring someone along for the
event.

 

We will be celebrating the day after Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday.
Wait, that's not quite right...we will be celebrating Lincoln's 200th
birthday the day after his 200th birthday.  In other words, and to be
perfectly clear, Friday, February 13.  At 3:30 (to 5:00) in Levan 203.

 

And how will we mark this event?

 

Dr. Mark Pohlad of the Department of the History of Art and Architecture
has graciously offered to share his work and interest in Lincoln,
Lincoln photography, and Lincoln ideas with us.  Attached is the poster
for the event (a very nice poster, too, by the way).  We will have time
for discussion and, as usual, there will be refreshments to celebrate
Abe's birth.

 

Ok, now is there a catch to this?  A fee?  A paper to write?  Well,
there's no fee and no paper to write....  But, if you are interested and
wish to come (and bring a friend or two or three), just let me know so
that I can order enough food.  I can be reached at ebeirige at depaul.edu.

 

And remember to make a date with history!
