Subject: The Fifth Annual HISTORY Student Conference!

Dear Intrepid Historians,

Per my previous warning...announcement....

Have you ever said to yourself, "Hey, self, what a great history paper
you just wrote...it's stunning, revelatory, innovatory, brilliant!"?
Or, how 'bout, "Jiminy crickets, self, that history paper is spiffy!"?
Or, had a history professor write on your paper, "WOW! I now can retire
secure in the knowledge that my work here is done...I have found my
successor!"?

If so, and even if not, on behalf of the History Department, we are now
formally issuing the Call for papers for the 5th Annual Student History
Conference (to be held all day on Friday, April 24). Please consider
this your official invitation to select one of those gems of yours
(written from spring quarter 2008 through winter quarter 2009), fill out
our submission cover page (available at the History website), and email
the two to the department at history at depaul.edu by 3:00 p.m. on Friday,
March 13 (you can also visit the department with hard copies of each and
contribute them to our submission box...our friendly staff will help you
out!). (If you wish to submit a winter quarter 2009 paper, please
submit the cover page and a paragraph abstract summarizing the title,
topic and thesis of the paper you will be submitting. Once we receive
this abstract, we will hold a place for you in our deliberations. The
paper itself may be submitted by the first Wednesday after spring break,
April 1, by 3:00 p.m., no foolin'!) Undergraduate papers should be 8-10
pages long, while graduate papers should be 12-15 pages. For more
information, visit the department or our website, or contact Dr. Colleen
Doody at cdoody at depaul.edu. (You may also contact me!)

I've included our really cool poster which includes this information and
more.... Oh, and if all of this is not clear, let me know and I will
clarify this for you.

And, one last thing...remember that the deadline for Phi Alpha Theta
(the national History Honors Society) applications is fast approaching!
Get your forms in NOW!

Best wishes and happy writing!

Dr. B
