Lee Bey interviews Chicago 2016 President Lori Healey about the Olympic and Paralympic bid for 2016. Healey will share her reflections on the process of creating the bid, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) visit to Chicago last month, and what the bid means for Chicago's built environment. This program presents an exciting opportunity to foster public dialogue on various issues facing our city, with an emphasis on the proposed Olympic Village on the site of the former Michael Reese Hospital and the Olympic stadium planned for Washington Park.
As President of Chicago 2016, Lori Healey oversees the bid's community outreach and government relations activities, Olympic Village development, and implementation of legacy programs. Most recently, Healey served as Chief of Staff to Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, Commissioner of the city's Department of Planning and Development and, prior to that, as a principal in Perkins & Will's Chicago office.
Lee Bey is the former architecture critic of the Chicago Sun-Times. He served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Planning and Design for Mayor Richard M. Daley, where he became involved in a variety of issues that ranged from housing developments to historic preservation. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Chicago Central Area Committee.
