Dear Intrepid Historians,

This is a reminder that we will be meeting this Friday, March 5,
3:00-5:00, in Levan 203 (enter by the north stairs from the first floor
foyer of Levan).

I will be submitting food orders soon.... So, please RSVP ASAP!

This will be a very helpful meeting, so bring your pens, paper, laptops
(if they help).... I have found some interesting connections between
history (and other liberal arts) and careers in computer science,
businesses, not-for-profits, and government agencies which might prove
of interest. I also have some ideas re: how the history programs work
for you (to give you the skills to apply for a whole host of positions).

So, this should be useful, (hopefully) insightful, and a little
humorous, too (I can't neglect that aspect!).

Let me know ASAP if you can attend!

Best, Dr. B

Subject: IMPORTANT History Club Update and Information

Dear Intrepid Historians!

I wanted to pass on a few important reminders/updates/items:

First, we had a great turn out for our last History Club meeting, with
25+ attendees! I hope those who attended found it helpful.... Attached
is a slightly amended handout from that meeting, as well as the Power
Point that I presented. NOW, please pencil in Friday, March 5, for the
next event.... This one will focus on using your history major for
transitioning to the workplace, contextualizing your skills and
experiences for cover letters, and searching for jobs in a highly
competitive and rapidly changing world. I am looking to schedule this
meeting from 3:00-5:00...with pizza and pop, again....

PLEASE let me know ASAP if this date and time work for you, and you can
attend.

Second, remember that Monday, March 1 is the last date to submit your
applications to Phi Alpha Theta for this year's initiation class. I've
attached a copy of the requirements and the application. There is no
fee to apply, though there is a $50 membership fee if you are accepted
to this honors society. So, if in doubt, apply.

Third, remember to consider submitting a paper for the Friday, April 30
Sixth Annual Student History Conference. We are planning all kinds of
interesting things for this conference, and I'll talk about it in more
detail at the meeting on March 3. I encourage you to submit a paper for
this conference, as this is another opportunity to build your resume for
life after DePaul. Should you have a paper that is over the 10-page
limit, still consider submitting it. We will work with you to help edit
the paper down to conference presentation length.

That's all for now. Don't forget to RSVP!

Best, Dr. B
