[Grad_history_students] IMPORTANT HISTORY ANNOUNCEMENTS!!!!

Dear Intrepid Historians,

As the thermometer reddens and the snow recedes, we turn our thoughts to SPRING!  Ah, but before we do, we need to keep in mind and ponder the following announcements.

1)  Attached is the application to Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honors society.  Check over the criteria and consider applying.  The application costs nothing (not until you are selected) and requires little of your time.  If you don't know whether you are eligible, apply.  Even if you are not, there is nothing lost in applying.

2)  You will receive two emails additional emails from me in the next day or so.  The first is an opportunity to volunteer at the military history library in Chicago.  Please consider doing so.  It's great experience and great for resumes!

3)  The second email, to be sent tomorrow, is a call for papers for our seventh annual history conference.  This is an excellent opportunity to submit your work for consideration for the conference.  There are many excellent opportunities involved, but again, it rates high in the experience and resume categories.

4)  This is less of an announcement and more of a question.  Would you be interested in a winter quarter Thursday or Friday History Club repeating last year's popular sessions on grad and professional school, and resumes for life after DePaul?  While there is not much "new" material (though there is some), you might be interested in renewing your ideas, etc.  I will do this only if I obtain a critical mass of 20 souls or so.  Pizza and refreshments will be served.
