Dear Intrepid Historians,

First, for those of you who presented at the Student Conference, congrats.  We are truly proud of you and your work!  (For those of you who attended, thank you for supporting your peers....)

Okay, three important announcements!

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 5, Dr. Brian Boeck and the History Department will sponsor a lecture by Professor Emeritus Edward L. Keenan of Harvard University on "A Life Itinerary of Ivan IV."  The lecture is at 6 p.m. in 103 McGowen South (1110 W. Belden).  Ivan IV, also known as "Ivan the Terrible" of Russia, is often sensationalized...Dr. Keenan will offer alternative insights into the character and deeds of the Russian monarch.  PLEASE ATTEND!  It shld be very interesting!!!!

Also, tomorrow, the History Department will sponsor another lecture, by Eva Golinger on "Wikileaks and US foreign policy towards Venezuela."  It will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in 154 SAC.  I've attached a pdf on this which provides more detail.  PLEASE ATTEND!      

Next Friday, May 13, from 3:30-5:00, History Club and the Library will sponsor an event for history students on careers in archives.  It is a quickly growing career area and a natural for history graduates.  More soon!  (Oh, and food will be served!)
