Dear Graduate Students,

FOLLOW THIS LINK FOR INFO and TO APPLY: http://www.historians.org/annual/hourlyworkers/hourlyworkerapplication.cfm

The American Historical Association is holding its annual meeting in Chicago January 5–8, 2012. Thousands of historians from all over the world will be there, and we hope you will be among them.

The AHA needs several dozen workers to help with various tasks. Responsibilities will include working at the registration counters and the Job Center, making sure that meeting rooms have necessary equipment, and lots of other behind-the-scenes jobs that must be performed effectively if the meeting as a whole is to run smoothly. We seek workers who will be available for at least eight hours during the course of the meeting.

Each worker will be paid $15.00 per hour, and each will receive free meeting registration. (The preregistration fee for a graduate student is ordinarily $75 for student members and $115 for student nonmembers). Workers will thus be able to attend sessions that interest them and also visit the exhibit hall, where about 125 publishers will be displaying their most recent books, at times when they are not working. (See the meeting program to learn more about what will be going on.)

If you would like to be considered, please fill out the application below by November 15. Sarah Miller-Davenport (millerdavenport at uchicago.edu) is serving as the graduate assistant to the Local Arrangements Committee and can answer any questions.
