Heifer International is looking to hire a researcher for a part-time
position exploring livestock and gardening related laws in select
cities
across the United States. The position is based in Chicago, with the
majority of research being done via phone and internet. The position
would pay $10/hour for up to 16 hours/week for a total of three months.
The candidate must be comfortable interviewing varied audiences
including government officials and urban ag practitioners, and have good
writing skills.

The results we hope to achieve are:

1. A "State of Urban Agriculture Regulations and Policies" report on
assorted cities representing different regions and population sizes.

2. General action steps to guide individuals and/or community groups
in
obtaining similar information about their own locale.

3. Suggested best practices for successful urban farming as experienced
by long-term practitioners and officials.

Please forward to all contacts who feel would be interested in this
opportunity.

Interested parties should respond by Friday, June 18, 2004 to
rodger.cooley at heifer.org <mailto:rodger.cooley at heifer.org> or (773)
