The International Law Students Association (ILSA) is soliciting
applications for the position of Executive Assistant. ILSA is a
not-for-profit membership organization based in Chicago, Illinois (USA).
 ILSA's
members are law students and young lawyers around the world. ILSA's
mission is to promote the study and awareness of international law among
law students and legal and international professionals.

The EA's responsibilities are:

- to assist the Executive Director in recruiting for and
administering
the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, the
largest moot court competition in the world (over 500 teams from
nearly 90 countries) and the oldest public international law moot
   court competition (46 years running)
- to edit and publish ILSA Quarterly, our quarterly magazine for our
   members
- to act as a primary point of contact for our student officers and
   our membership around the world
- to manage accounts payable and accounts receivable for ILSA
- to manage content on the ILSA website
- to perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director
(for example, the main ILSA phone number rings at the EA's desk,
and the fax line is right next to the desk)

ILSA is a largely volunteer organization. At present, the EA is the
only full-time employee other than myself. The EA is largely
unsupervised in day-to-day tasks.

The above job description describes the responsibilities of the
current Executive Assistant. However, given the small size of the
organization (and the large number of available volunteers), each of
the above responsibilities may be expanded or diminished based
on the skills and interests of the new EA.

The current EA will still be on-site, and will be available for
orientation and training of the new EA at least through the end of
July.

The job is a great opportunity for college graduates seeking to
go to law school (one gets a lot of great letters-of-recommendation
from our organization), for persons seeking to go into grass-roots
fundraising, organization, or lobbying work, and for individuals
seeking high-level management or executive experience.

Start date is negotiable, sometime between July 1, 2004 and
August 1, 2004.

Salary and benefits are competitive with similar
positions at similarly-positioned Chicago-area non-profits.

Please feel free to reprint or re-circulate this job posting via
electronic mail or any other means.

Fax resumes and inquiries to ILSA, (312) 362-5073, attention
Michael Peil, or email them to ilsa at ilsa.org.

ILSA is an equal-opportunity employer. All required and standard
non-discrimination policies and statements are hereby incorporated
by reference.
