Development Finance:  What Seems to Work and Why

Join featured speaker Lynn Pikholz, President of ShoreCap Exchange for a discussion on international microfinance, its potential impact on women and families, and ShoreBank's experience in development finance.   Pikholz has over ten years of experience in the financial sector and is author of several microfinance, enterprise development and housing papers.

ShoreBank Corporation is a $1.4 billion bank holding company, which is committed to increasing opportunities in economically distressed areas.  ShoreBank Advisory Services  (SAS) is the international consulting arm of ShoreBank's operation, which works to strengthen small business banks and microfinance institutions both in the U.S. and abroad.  SAS has worked extensively working extensively with development finance institutions in South Asia, (e.g. Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan); East Africa (Uganda and Kenya), the Middle East and Eastern and Central Europe.  

The event is sponsored by the Illinois Society for International Development (ISID), which promotes awareness of international development issues in Illinois and encourages networking and discussion.   ISID organizes events monthly, the second Tuesday of every month, focusing on international development issues.  Information about events and opportunities related to international development is distributed through the ISID listserve.
