The Chicago Council on Global Affairs is offering students an
opportunity to attend the first event in its Fall World Forum series
free of charge. The theme for the Fall is "Whither Russia?". The first
event is a talk by Jack Matlock, former Amb <<image002.gif>> assador to
the Soviet Union, whose talk "Living With Putin's Russia" will take
place tomorrow evening -- Wednesday, September 20th -- at 6:00 p.m. at
the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Chicago.
Admission for students is FREE but you do need to register in advance:

The fall 2006 Chicago and the World Forum will offer an examination by
leading figures of how Russia is changing and what that change means for
world affairs.
Part One - September 20, 2006
JACK F. MATLOCK, Former U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union
Living with Putin's Russia
During his 35 years in the American Foreign Service, Jack F. Matlock,
Jr. served as ambassador to the Soviet Union, special assistant to
President Ronald Reagan for National Security Affairs and senior
director for European and Soviet affairs on the National Security
Council Staff, and ambassador to Czechoslovakia. He is the author of
Reagan and Gorbachev: How the Cold War Ended; Autopsy on an Empire: The
American Ambassador's Account of the Collapse of the Soviet Union; and a
handbook to the thirteen-volume Russian edition of Stalin's Collected
Works.
