[History_students] Important Information about History Major Requirements

Dear History majors,

 

This is an important reminder that students in the "new" history major
who wish to graduate in 2010 must take HST 390 in either winter quarter
2010 or spring quarter 2010.  

 

Please note that HST 390 is a research practicum and always the second
part of a two-course sequence.  Students are only eligible to enroll in
HST 390 in winter 2010 if they are currently (during fall 2009) enrolled
in Dr. Krokar's HST 302 (Maps in History and Culture) or Dr. Sylvester's
HST 359 (Society and Culture in the Late Soviet Era). Enrollment is by
consent of the instructor.

 

Students wishing to take HST 390 in spring quarter 2010 must take either
HST 335 or HST 394 in winter 2010.  Please keep this in mind as you plan
your winter quarter schedule.  (See the end of this message for
additional information about these courses.)

  

Please note that after spring 2010, HST 390 will not be offered again
before Winter 2011.  Thus, if you hope to complete your degree ANY time
in 2010 (June, August, or November/December), you must take HST 390 in
winter or spring 2010.

 

If you are not sure whether you are required to take HST 390 as a degree
requirement, please contact your academic advisor in the history
department.  Students generally are required to take HST 390 if they
declared the history on or after September 10, 2008 or if they
explicitly indicated that they wished to transfer into the "new" history
major.

 

If you have any questions, please contact your HST faculty advisor.  If
you do not already know who your advisor is, you can find this
information through Campus Connection.  (If you have difficulty locating
it, please contact the history department at history at depaul.edu.)
