Subject: MCA symposium 2/12: Reconstructing Utopia

Dear colleagues,

Attached please find a flier for the symposium Reconstructing Utopia: Cinema, Performance, and Ex-Yugoslavia, which will take place at the MCA Chicago this Saturday, February 12, 1-4 pm. Please post this flier in your department and share it widely.

The symposium is free and open to the public. It seeks to offer insight into the creative process of Chicago's Every house has a door, which is performing its latest work Let us think of these things always. Let us speak of them never. at the MCA Chicago. Participants reflect on themes that this piece shares with the genre-defying films of Serbian filmmaker Dušan Makavejev. Presentations by Carol Becker, Justin Cabrillos, Lin Hixson, and Branislav Jakovljevic explore themes of utopia, theatricality, the body, and the law, as well as the value of experimentation.

Performances of Let us think of these things always. Let us speak of them never. are scheduled for Wed-Thurs, February 9 and 10 (7:30 pm), Fri-Sat, February 11 and 12 (7:30 pm), and Sunday, February 13 (3 pm): http://www.mcachicago.org/performances/perf_detail.php?id=621 <http://www.mcachicago.org/performances/perf_detail.php?id=621>

Tickets are available through Box Office, 312-397-4010.

Thank you for helping us spread the word.
