CHIEF OF PARTY

MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE 

 

MWH seeks a Chief of Party for an upcoming USAID-funded health
infrastructure 

project in Mozambique.  Key technical areas to be covered by the project
include health 

infrastructure (Rural Health Centers and Medical Warehouses), and
training and 

capacity building in related practices and management. Services provided
by MWH 

under this contract will include: assessment, policy analysis and
development, planning, 

design, program/ construction oversight and capacity building. Principal
Duties and 

Responsibilities: Responsible for overall program of $25 million program
of selection, 

design rehabilitation/ construction and maintenance of 50 Rural Health
Centers and 10 

warehouses in Mozambique over a 5 year program starting in September of
2011. 

Supervises technical staff for execution of the infrastructure
improvement plus the 

capacity building including the following activities: Planning, Design,
Surveying, 

Environmental Reviews, Tender Management, Supervision and Quality
Assurance, 

Quantity Surveying, Maintenance Manuals and Training, Fit-out
Coordination.  Staff 

will consist of a combination of expat specialists along with Mozambican
engineers and 

scientists. The majority of the staff will be Mozambican.  REQUIRES:
Chief of Party 

shall be a Senior Civil Engineer; PE certification or equivalent is
preferred; Minimum of 

15 years of experience in planning, designing and implementing municipal
and/or 

community infrastructure projects, the majority of which shall be in
developing 

countries using labor-intensive methods; Demonstrated technical
knowledge and 

capability in infrastructure planning, health system design,
construction management 

and infrastructure operations and maintenance; Experience in procurement
systems and

language capabilities 

required.   Fluency in Portuguese is also essential. Fluency should be

for a Ring 

Road project  in Afghanistan, to be funded by the Asian Development Bank
(ADB).  I

work is 

project management (overall supervision) of the works for upgrading
233km section of 

the Ring Road between Andkhoy and Herat. Supervision will include the

MATERIAL CUM PAVEMENT ENGINEERS (2 PERSONS)

 

"The Engineer" for construction supervision shall:  a.) Oversee civil
works; b.) Review 

and approve detailed designs; c.) Certify quality, timing and budget;
d.) Oversees the 

safeguard compliance; e.) Oversees payment to Contractor and security
teams engaged 

under the project through obtaining approval from Ministry of Public
Works (MPW);

Contractor.  Qualification REQUIREMENTS for Material Engineer: Must have
a 

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering;  Minimum of 12 years of

*IOC COORDINATOR IN AFRICA

NAIROBI, KENYA

 

An IOC Coordinator (P-4) is sought in Nairobi.  Duties: To support the
work of 

Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC) in Africa, by


coordinating, facilitating and developing the Africa region component of
IOC global 

programmes, developing and implementing capacity-development activities,
organizing 

the meetings and facilitate the work of the IOC regional subsidiary
bodies in Africa, and 

ensuring dissemination of relevant scientific information and management
tools in 

Africa.  REQUIRES: Advanced university degree (preferably at Doctorate
level) in 

oceanography or closely related field.  A minimum of seven years of
progressively 

responsible work experience in oceanography research and coordination.
At least three 

of relevant experience acquired at the international level would an
asset. Experience 

working in the marine scientific community, and with government
representatives and

*COORDINATOR, IAP/IAMP

TRIESTE, ITALY

 

A Coordinator, IAP/IAMP (P-3) is sought in Trieste.  Duties: To provide
daily 

coordination and supervision of IAP and IAMP staff and monitor the
progress of their 

work.  To provide the IAP and IAMP Co-Chairs and Executive Committees
with 

tactical advice and implementation strategies on the current strategic
plans of the two 

organizations and assist in the development and monitoring of strategic
plans and action 

agendas.  REQUIRES: Advanced University degree, preferably at the Ph.D.
level, in 

any of the fields of the natural or social sciences.  4-7 years of
progressively responsible 

relevant experience in scientific research and administration, of which
preferably 3-5 

years acquired at the international level in leading administrative
positions, also 

involving financial and human resource management.  The ability to
project authority to 

diverse audiences ranging from scientists to global, regional and
national policy-

makers.  Excellent knowledge of English; working knowledge of Italian or
willingness
