Dear CCADE Members,
It is that time to start planning for the 2014-2015 CCADE meetings and activities. Here is the schedule for the fall semester:
September 2, 2014 7:00 – 9:00 a.m.
October 6, 2014 7:00 – 9:00 a.m.
November 3, 2014 7:00 – 9:00 a.m.
December 1, 2014 7:00 – 9:00 a.m.
We will meet at the Chicago Teacher’s Center at 770 North Halsted Street, in Chicago. We do hope that whether you are a brand new dean or have been one for a while that you will make every attempt to attend these meetings. CCADE has been instrumental in facilitating change for better educator preparation. Our collective voice can be very powerful but only if we have a strong constituent of institutions in our active membership.
The following topics have surfaced for agenda items and CCADE work for the 2014-2015 school year:
· edTPA
o Rule Change letter
o Implementation
o High stakes nature of the exam
· Chicago Public Schools: Field and Clinical Placement Issues
· Test of Academic Performance/ ACT entrance requirements
· Data Collection: what shall we collect and how shall we compile and share it?
· ISBE Annual Reports
· National Accreditation
We will once again reach out to significant individuals to join us for our meetings. In addition, we will request monthly updates on the State Educator and Preparation Licensure Board, the Council of Public Deans, and IACTE.
Thought you might be interested in the fact that the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association has formed a new committee aimed at advocating for policy and amplifying principal voice. The committee is calling itself Administrators Alliance for Proven Policy and Legislation in Education or AAPPLE and will hold its first forum on Aug. 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the University of Illinois-Chicago Pavilion. We are sure that they would not mind if some CCADE members attended.
We will ask you to remit your yearly dues of $200.00. Attached is the dues statement. Just fill in your institution name and send the check along to me at: Pam Jessee, College of Education, Lewis University, One University Parkway, Romeoville, Illinois 60449. Some of your institutions have requested federal and state id numbers for the organization and we will have those shortly.
So mark your calendar for September 2, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. at the Chicago Teacher’s Center. A light breakfast will be served. We are so looking forward to seeing you there. We will send along an agenda closer to the date of the meeting. CPS placement issues will be the main agenda item but feel free to submit other items as well.
Sincerely,
