All,
I just got off the phone with our attorney and the CPS attorney. The
bottom line is that this is coming out of the office of Talent (Alicia
Winckler) and the delays in attorney communication are related to the
timeliness of Talent in responding to the attorney. We had a nice
conversation where the NEIU attorney made it clear that we will be sending
our students on Tuesday. I told her that we are meeting on Tuesday morning
at 7 and will have a document to send to them by noon. I apologized if
working through the attorneys was not the right venue (she suggested that
we should have asked for a meeting with Alicia) and told her that on
Tuesday, I would send our concerns directly to Alicia with a copy to her
and any college/university attorney who would like a copy. We have asked
and will ask again for a meeting with Alicia at her earliest convenience to
iron out the issues. The attorney stated that all programmatic issues in
the contract came directly from the Talent office.
So, I am planning to send our students unless I am told directly by the
Talent office or Leslie Ackerman that they cannot attend. I expect that
the late hour of their reply will prevent them from being able to stop our
students at the door on the first day of school.
