2) Designed for students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate
programs in history, American studies, museum studies or related
fields, the Historical Resources Internship Program provides
participants with an opportunity to volunteer in a major American
history museum.

Each volunteer intern will work directly with a curator, registrar,
archivist, librarian or conservator who serves as a mentor. In
addition to completing specific project assignments, Historical
Resources interns are encouraged to participate in the larger life of
the institution in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of
the varied aspects of museum work.

Terms of Internship
Historical Resources Internships are volunteer positions, usually 3 to
5 days per week over three months during the summer.

Intern positions for summer 2009 projects have been filled. Projects
for summer 2010 will be listed on the website in December 2009, with
application deadline of Monday, March 15, 2010.

3) The Colorado Historical Society - Various Internships (Denver,
Colorado, U.S.)

The Colorado Historical Society is pleased to provide an internship
program for graduate and undergraduate students at the Colorado
History Museum during each fall, spring and summer semester. The
internships are available on a volunteer basis, are unpaid, and
interns are responsible for arranging their own travel and lodging, as
well as any necessary visas during their internship. Although students
may arrange through their educational institution to receive academic
credit for their work as interns and a detailed letter of
recommendation may be provided upon satisfactory completion of an
internship period, the Colorado Historical Society is unable to
provide a stipend or any financial support.

Candidates selected to become interns at the Museum work side by side
with staff members in one of the Museum's departments. These include
Education, Research and Publications, Administration, Marketing and
Public Relations, Collections Services, Design and Production, Library
Science, as well as the four curatorial departments; Books and
Manuscripts, Photography, Material Culture (graduate and post-graduate
students only), and Decorative and Fine Arts. Limited internships are
also available at several of the Society's regional museums.

Interns are regarded as responsible members of the staff and meet
regularly with the professional staff to discuss their work.
Applicants should be enrolled in a degree program with a major in one
of the following areas: history, anthropology, education, or museum
studies. Other majors may be considered.

Because the internship program is small, each intern's program is
individually designed with the student and the sponsoring institution.
Interested students should contact the appropriate department director
at the Colorado Historical Society, 1300 Broadway, Denver, Colorado
80203-2137. Please write and include a brief description of your
interests as well as a current curriculum vita and two letters of
