McCormick Community Internship

 
Looking to apply your skills to a nonprofit organization and create a project that will enhance community life? Apply for the McCormick Community Internship. 


We are looking for DePaul Undergraduates who exhibit a strong commitment to service and academic excellence, and who seek to advance their understanding of community. The intern will spend one quarter in a placement within a community setting that is structured to utilize their individual talents, experiences and academic expertise. The internship will be focused on project-based work designed by the student, culminating with the generation of a final product. These internships have proven time and time again to be enriching for the student, the community site and the community itself. At the end of the quarter, McCormick interns will present their project at the Service Speaks conference. Interns receive $1,200 per academic quarter from the Steans Center during the internship experience. Examples of past projects include: 

 

v  A local Public Art tour for the Bronzeville Visitor Information Center  

v  Translating job-training manuals into various languages to help refugees at World Relief 

v  Formalizing a PR plan for the Inner City Muslim Action Network.

Application Criteria: Applications will be reviewed by a panel of DePaul faculty, staff, senior level students, community representatives, and Steans Center advisory board members using the following criteria:

 

? 3.0 GPA

? Undergraduate Student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours

?  Previous Experience in at least one Community based Service Learning Course

?  A Community Service resume that demonstrates substantial commitment to civic engagement and leadership qualities 

?  A project proposal with timeline attached to the application signed by a community site supervisor 

?  A cover letter and current resume 

?  Letter of recommendation
