Just wanted to let you know that this coming Monday, November 14, the English Department is hosting an event of interest to historians and history students--a book talk by Richard Cahan and Michael Williams, authors
The Lost Panoramas: When Chicago Changed its River and the Land Beyond, a collection of amazing photographs of early Chicago and its surroundings, many of which have never been seen before.

Booklist just gave The Lost Panoramas a starred review, which I've attached to this e-mail. To learn the fascinating story behind the book--which is based on a century-old cache of 22,000 glass-plate negatives--check out this short video:
